Past tense pronunciation can be tricky. For instance, the 'ed' sound can have difference pronunciations (i.e., sound of t, d, id).
Suggested Activity
Game: Race to the Top: Past Tense
​
Objective:
Students will practice saying words with different 'ed' ending pronunciation.
​
Directions:
-
Divide students into pairs and give them the game handout and dice.

Students will take turns rolling the die and then saying the word associated with the number on the die.
-
When the student has correctly read the word, they check the box to move up the line of words to the top.
-
When a student reaches the top of the line, they must read the words aloud to the instructor.
